No. Let's Open Up Over Whisky is a non-profit organization focused on inclusion within the whisky community. We do not represent any political party or political ideology. Our work revolves around dialogue, reflection, and long-term cultural change in the whisky context.
No. While the initiative initially grew out of a desire to make women more included in the whisky community, our work today encompasses inclusion in a broader perspective. This can include gender, ethnicity, religion, age, professional background and other factors that influence who feels welcome in a whisky context.
No. Membership is not based on certification, ranking or ready-made solutions. We do not evaluate or review our members. What we expect is a genuine willingness to reflect, discuss and over time move in a more inclusive direction.
No. Some activities are open to non-members, while others are specifically aimed at members. Membership is one way to support the initiative, but involvement can take many different forms.
No. Members have no decision-making mandate over how the organization is run or how funds are used. Suggestions and ideas from members are welcome, but all formal decisions are made by the board.
No. Our work is not about assigning blame. We are aware that many clubs and organizations are already doing important work, often with limited resources. Our role is to support reflection and conversation – not to point fingers.
Yes. Membership fees for whisky clubs are adjusted to the size of the club, and we do not place any additional requirements on small clubs. Inclusion is not about budget, but about attitude and willingness to get involved.
No. Let's Open Up Over Whisky does not offer any certifications or formal endorsements. Membership signals support for our values and direction – not that you meet a certain standard.
Nominations are welcome and encouraged, but they are indicative rather than binding. The board has full authority to make decisions on recipients based on the organization's purpose and values.
